A-Z Challenge 2025
B is for Bear! I was in Algonquin Provincial Park in September, 2014 when we were treated to two female black bears, each with two cubs. They were in a blueberry patch and stocking up for Winter. One of the adults was chill and used to people, but this young mother was raising her first two cubs and she was a good deal more..."nervous". It did result in some spectacular poses though, although this "stare down" moment was a trifle unnerving! Note, I am no where NEAR the bear. This is taken with a powerful telephoto lens and also cropped!
I see you were able to add yourself here. The bears are great but I wouldn't want to mess with Mama bear.
ReplyDeleteHi Birgit, yes I did. Thank you! I was going crazy trying to find the sign-up.
DeleteOur most successful bear sightings were in Shenandoah. Slightly scary but wonderful to see (like you, we kept a long way back).
ReplyDeleteThey are magnificent to see, but they require a great deal of respect (and room!). I was over the moon to see them and photograph them!
DeleteWhat wonderful photos of beautiful creatures! I hope they all got their share of the blueberry feast.
ReplyDeleteHello and welcome Deborah! Yes, they seemed to be enjoying themselves a great deal. It was such an honour to see them and photograph them in their own habitat!
DeleteMy late husband took me to visit the "bear dump" in upstate Adirondacks. Yup, a dump where the bears come out at dusk to scavenge. Then I saw more in Yellowstone (my favorite park).
